This This walking tour takes you to the intriguing yet little-known mountains of Northern Greece. You move about by (rental) car between the three overnight locations. It is possible to do the trip by public transport (train/bus/taxi). In that case it is recommended to book 1 extra night at all locations.
From Naoussa you’ll wander through the rural countryside, among vineyards in the wide valley below Mt. Vermio and make a great hike through the dense forests that cover this mountain. Further south you explore the lush green valley of the Enipeas River that flows down from the summits of Mt. Olympos. On the southern slopes of Kato Olympos you walk around Rapsani, a traditional village famous for the Rapsani wine production. A last walk high above the impressive Tempi Valley and an overnight stay in the historical village Ambelakia makes this tour a never-to-forget experience!
You walk along hidden monasteries and chapels, situated in lush hill forests and an unexpected green landscape. You may visit a wine museum and the site of Ancient Dion. During the tour you have ample opportunity to taste the excellent wines.
It’s a tour for people who want to combine hiking with a viticultural experience.
